I spent years researching, testing and testing again combinations of ingredients and wanted to share some interesting facts about one of the key ingredients in our Collection – Aloe Vera. I hope you enjoy it.
CurlyEllie uses certified organic, Star-K Kosher, certified Halal Aloe Vera.
This first one is a bit of a science lesson, but for those of you who’s hair will not grow past that a certain length, this one’s for you!
THE AMAZING WAY ALOE VERA PROMOTES HAIR GROWTH
Aloe Vera goes above and beyond in terms of hair growth as the plant works to stimulate blood circulation along the scalp. Blood circulation and a healthy scalp is an important part of the hair growth cycle. In the first hair cycle phase, the anagen, hair is growing and cells are dividing. In order to do this the follicles must be nourished, and they rely on blood circulation to feed them.
HOW ALOE VERA PRESERVES FOOD
Believe it or not, a study in Spain has proved that a thin layer of aloe vera gel can act as a natural food preservative. In the experiment, they immersed some table grapes into a bowl of aloe vera gel and then kept it in the refrigerator. The table grape without aloe vera gel went bad in 7 days, but the gelled ones stayed fresh for more than 35 days and still tasted fresh.
ALOE VERA CAN CURE GUM DISEASES
Studies have shown that dental and gum diseases can also be cured by aloe vera.
You can try out this natural remedy at home – put some aloe vera powder on your toothbrush, then brush normally. The Aloe Vera will soothe the gums and cure any kind of infection or bruises. You may notice Aloe Vera in some natural toothpastes.
CLEOPATRA USED ALOE GEL ON HER FACE AND BODY AS PART OF HER BEAUTY REGIMEN
(If she did it, surely we have to!)
Because of the afore mentioned enzymatic breakdown of dead skin cells from Aloe Vera, this multifunctional plant has also been used for the treatment of dandruff. Most doctors attribute dandruff to malassezia, a fat-eating fungus that can live on the scalp.
Luckily, in addition to breaking down the dead skin cells, Aloe Vera also has anti-fungal properties. This is because fungus thrives in an acidic environment, and the alkalizing attributes of Aloe Vera counter a proactive fungal environment, disallowing further growth and buildup.
NATIVE AMERICANS UTILIZED ALOE FOR A MULTITUDE OF BENEFITS AND REFERRED TO IT AS “THE WAND OF HEAVEN”
I love this very much… history has proven Aloe Vera works.
LOWERS CHOLESTEROL AND TRIGLYCERIDES
Aloe vera gel, when used internally, automatically improves blood quality and thus helps in re-balancing the other components in it like cholesterol and glucose. It effectively lowers cholesterol and total triglyceride content.
CURES MENSTRUAL PROBLEMS
The extract of aloe vera has shown to be an excellent stimulant of the uterus and intake of its juice is very beneficial during painful menstruation.
CONDITIONS HAIR AND SCALP
The gel-like substance of the Aloe barbadensis leaf gives it a similar chemical composition of keratin, the naturally occurring protein in hair cells. This structural similarity allows for easier penetration along the entire length of the hair shaft. (This is one of the key reasons we use Aloe Vera in our CurlyEllie products!)
PREVENTS OXIDATIVE STRESS
Aloe vera gel is rich in vitamins like vitamin B12, B1, B2, B6, and vitamin A, E, and C, and niacin, and folic acid. These vitamins are required for a proper functioning of human body. The body’s defensive system is thus kept intact with the regular intake of its juice and thus keeps you away from the dangerous impact of oxidative stress.
